Ben Di Rosa is the chef and owner of Zecca Handmade Italian in Griffith, alongside his wife Michaela Cangelli, and best friend Daniel D’Aquino. Ben, Michaela and Daniel all grew up in Griffith before moving to Melbourne to pursue individual careers.
Ben has been in the hospitality industry for nearly 20 years, working in various restaurants throughout Melbourne. He was named as one of Melbourne mX Magazine’s Fresh Face Food Heroes of the Future in 2012.
Ben’s passion has always been with his Italian roots, travelling extensively throughout Italy meeting numerous likeminded artisan producers. He moved back to Griffith in 2015 to open Zecca Handmade Italian with Michaela and Daniel in January 2016. Zecca is focused on true regional Italian food, looking to the past for lost old recipes, and rare obscure pasta shapes which make up an ever-changing weekly seasonal menu.
Zecca is committed to working closely with local farmers and producers to showcase the best of what Griffith and the region has to offer. Zecca is also proud to be the Riverina’s only producer of dried artisan pasta, producing 6 shapes using Riverina sourced semolina.
